At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- understand the information transmission protocols within a local network and on the Internet;
- install and configure the equipment required to build a minimal network (LANs interconnected by routers).

- To know the OSI and IETF models and encapsulation
- To know the Ethernet protocol (VLANs and STP are not part of the syllabus)
- To know IPv4 addresses: addresses, subnet mask, routing table, static routing
- To know the transport-layer protocols (TCP/UDP)
- To analyze network frames (Wireshark)
- To administer an active device (switch, router) and set up an initial network (interconnected LANs)
