But du cours

  • To know embedded technologies.
  • To know embedded-specific communication protocols.
  • To acquire basic notions in electronics.

Acquis d'apprentissage visés

  • Identify the hardware and software components of an embedded system.
  • Explain the operation and constraints specific to embedded systems (real-time, power consumption, memory).
  • Recognize and use the main communication protocols specific to embedded systems (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.).
  • Apply fundamental electronics concepts (voltage, current, resistance, sensors, actuators) in a computing context.
  • Implement a simple microcontroller to interface sensors and control devices.

Prérequis

  • Algorithmic and Programming
  • Programming in C and C++
  • Operating Systems

Programme

  • Introduction to embedded systems: definitions, characteristics, application domains and constraints (real-time, energy, reliability).
  • Presentation of an embedded system architecture: microcontroller, memory, inputs/outputs, peripherals.
  • Review and basic concepts of electronics: voltage, current, resistance, Ohm’s law, reading simple schematics.
  • Discovery of a development board: programming environment and initial tests.
  • Interfacing sensors and actuators: analog and digital measurements, control of LEDs, motors, buzzers.
