RéférentThis English language course aims to develop pragmatic, sociocultural and linguistic skills aligned with the CEFR across all four language activities, using varied teaching methods in interactive lectures (CM), tutorials (TD) and practical sessions (TP). Activities include listening and reading comprehension, written production (essays, summaries, memos, work placement reports) and oral production (presentations, group projects, improvisations, discussions and debates), preparing students for professional English use while fostering critical thinking.

Prérequis

  • CEFR Level B1.2
  • Can understand the essential content of concrete or abstract topics in a complex text, including a technical discussion in their field of study.
  • Can communicate with a degree of spontaneity and fluency such that conversation with a native speaker involves no tension for either party.
  • Can express oneself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects, give an opinion on a current topic and present the advantages and disadvantages of different possibilities.

Programme

  • Comprehension of technical documents in the field of study, both written and oral.
  • Writing a work placement report, level 1.
  • Technical and professional presentations with slides, level 1.
  • Grammatical correction – complex syntax, rhetorical tools, collocations and phrasal verbs.
  • Linguistic varieties in English.
  • Formal register level 2: consideration of language hierarchies.

Modalités d'évaluation

Internal assessment: Situational tasks on professional skills, at least 2 assessments per semester

External assessment: TOEIC (Semesters 8/9)
